Students learn the “tricks of the trade,” drawing from the principles of rhetoric, copywriting, public relations and speechwriting as they learn to craft messages that elicit the desired audience response.

  • Wrote and co-produced The Telecommunications Act of 1996: the Promise, a 20-minute video.
  • Acted as “final editing/proofreading eyes” for magazine and newsletters.
  • Presented industry updates at statewide meetings; worked with legal department on FCC presentations.
  • Tripled advertising revenues for magazine, enabling it to go from quarterly to bi-monthly, while serving as marketing specialist (6/88–2/91).

  • Wrote direct mail financial packages (Equitable & Commercial Credit); medical brochures (Dr. Neil Solomon); magazine inserts, mock sweepstakes packages and wraparounds (U.S. News & World Report); print ads, radio and television spots for car dealers; essays on ethics and Maryland's economy (First National Bank); contributing writer to Outlook Magazine.
